Meet the Secretariat!

SECRETARY-GENERAL

Angela is a Senior at Harvard College studying Psychology with a secondary in Integrative Biology. She is from New York, but was born and raised in the Philippines before moving to Queens and, eventually, Bay Shore, LI.

Angela has been involved in MUN since high school and served as an Assistant Director of DISEC for HMUN and HNMUN 2021, Director of Administration and DISEC for HMUN and HNMUN 2022, and Under-Secretary-General for Administration for HMUN 2023. She also served as the Secretary-General for HMUN Boston 2024, and is excited to lead a conference once again for HMUN Australia 2024!

Outside of MUN, Angela is a photographer and Comp Director for the Harvard Crimson, as well as a DJ and Department Head for The Darker Side at WHRB 95.3FM. She conducted research at the Stress & Development Laboratory and is now conducting thesis research under the tutelage of the Ullman Laboratory. In her free time, Angela enjoys curating Spotify playlists, baking, and learning new instruments. Angela is elated to serve as the Secretary-General for what will be her last Model UN conference!

DIRECTOR-GENERAL

Jackie is a sophomore at Harvard College studying Comparative Literature and Economics. She is from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and consequently is always on the quest to find the best bagel in the Boston area.

Outside of HMUN Australia, Jackie serves as a Director of Business for HMUN, Director of Operations and Chief of Staff for the Harvard International Review, and Vice-President of the Harvard International Relations Council.

Outside of academics and extracurriculars, Jackie loves reading spy novels, watching Age of Sail television shows, and exploring coffee shops with friends in her free time.

UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL OF HOST AFFAIRS

Michael is a Senior at Harvard College from the United Kingdom concentrating in Chemistry and Physics, with a joint in Math, a Secondary in Economics with a language citation in French. He is also pursuing a concurrent Master’s in Chemistry and Chemical Biology, and conduct research in the laboratory of Professor Eric Jacobsen.

Michael was born and raised in a small town near Birmingham. His time in a diverse area surrounded him with a variety of opinions on issues important to his community, which made him fall in love with MUN.

Outside of MUN, Michael is a competitive swimmer back home and has previously competed at English nationals; he is also a member of HUCEG at college. Michael was an Assistant Director for SPECPOL and Finance in HMUN and HNMUN 2021, respectively. He crisis directed for HMUN 2022 and directed UNEP at HMUN 2023. Michael served as the Secretary-General for the inaugural session of HMUN Australia and Under-Secretary-General for HNMUN Finance in 2023. He cannot wait to take part in his last Model UN conference and see the rigorous debate that will unfold!

UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL OF FINANCE

Matas is a Junior in Winthrop House studying mostly mathematics and biology, with a potential secondary in European history. He grew up moving back and forth between France and Lithuania, thus the question "where are you from" usually gets the simplified response "from Europe."

On campus, Matas is involved with the Harvard International Review as well as with the IRC Central Affairs, having served on its Board of Directors since Freshman year. He was also part of the administrative team for HMUN Boston 2022 and 2023, and is happy to contribute to this second iteration of our international conference in Australia!

UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL OF ADMINISTRATION

Andrew is a Sophomore from Jacksonville, North Carolina concentrating in Government with a Secondary in Education and is a proud resident of Leverett House. Andrew first participated in MUN as an Assistant Director of Administration for HMUN & HNMUN 2023. In 2024, he will be a Substantive Director and the Managing Director of Social Engagement for HMUN & HNMUN.

At Harvard, Andrew is the Co-Chair of the Harvard Institute of Politics Conferences Committee and serves on the Student Advisory Committee. Andrew is also a Peer Advising Fellow, Pre-Orientation Team Leader, and a Swimming Instructor for Harvard Recreation. Outside of school, Andrew enjoys swimming and cooking.

UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL OF COMMITTEES

Rachel is a sophomore in Quincy House studying Economics and Government. She is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is often seen wearing sunglasses. She has been involved in MUN since her freshman year of high school in various ways: competing as a delegate, hosting conferences, and teaching workshops for a nonprofit. Rachel is excited to serve as the Under-Secretary-General for Committees!

Outside of MUN, Rachel manages finances for the HIR and directed UNICEF at HMUN Boston 2024. She also provides legal information for the Small Claims Advisory Service, researches energy for the Government Department, and is on Quincy’s House Committee!
